This work is deeply inspired by the Buddhist concepts of impermanence (anicca) and
non-self (anattā). These ideas challenge Western notations of individuality and consistency, inviting viewers to question their relationship to their personal identity. Through the use of collage and recontextualizing subjects, this work embodies these principles of impermanence. The collage format allows me to dismantle and rebuild the self-image, mirroring the constant transformation that is subject to all living andnon-living things. The human body is central to this work, serving as a visual motif for the vessel which experiences such mental transformations, such as acknowledging impermanence and the
non-self.
